Igloo Diamonds are officially graded by the venerable Gemological Institute of America--the GIA --and the American Gem Societythe AGS.
On world stage two North American grading institutions stand as beacon to the entire diamond grading industry worldwide. Those are the AGS (American Gem Society) and the GIA (the Gemological Institute of America).
Both are known for their leading and highest standards of grading diamonds according to the famous 4 Cs: Carat Size, Color level, Clarity grade and Cut grade.
The two labs are revered and held in the high regard that they are due to the fact that both are gemological teaching and research institutes, and not for profit organizations. Hence their objectivity professionalism.
Both are known for at least one major revolutionary contribution, each, to the science of diamond grading.
While the GIA is renowned for its introduction of the very grading scales used by most graders today, terms such as «VVS1», «VS2» «SI1» etc. for clarity, the letters D through Z for color etc., the, on the other hand, AGS is known for its focus on determining and grading the ever important relative proportions of different measurements of the diamond, and for introducing grading standards for Ideal Cut Diamonds. The proportions that are known to be tied up with the performance of the diamond, in particular, those within the demarcated brackets and clusters of proportions termed by the AGS «Ideal», are associated with high performance level in particular in round brilliant cut diamonds.
A diamond's Polish, its Symmetry and the relative Proportions of different measurements of its are, all, important for its performance. The terminology used culminates in the high grades of «Excellent» surpassed only by the grade «Ideal».
It is due to the AGS' claim to fame--the concentration on grading ideally proportioned diamonds--that strict ideal cut Igloo Diamonds are forwarded to the AGS for their grading. All ordinary ideal, excellent, very-good and good Cut Igloo Diamonds are referred to grading by the GIA.
Each Igloo Diamond is shipped accompanied with its original grading laboratory report, whether the GIA or the AGS.
